Important days are one of the easiest scoring topics in SSC General Awareness. Questions are asked as "On which date is World Environment Day celebrated?" or "Which day is observed on 26 November?". The dates of these days do not change every year, so you can learn them once and use them in every exam. These important national and international days notes for SSC give the full month-wise list in simple tables, with memory tricks and practice questions.

Difference Between National and International Days
| Type | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| National day | Observed in one country, often linked to a leader or an event | National Science Day (28 February) |
| International day | Declared by the United Nations or an agency like WHO and UNESCO, and observed worldwide | World Environment Day (5 June) |
| Theme | Every year the organisers choose a new theme, but the date remains the same | Theme of World Environment Day changes yearly |
The themes of days change every year, so SSC usually asks the date and the name of the day. Learn the themes only for the latest year and only for major days.
Memory Tricks for the Dates
- Link the date with the history, such as 15 August with Independence, 26 January with the Republic and 26 November with the Constitution.
- Remember the pairs: 5 June (Environment) and 22 April (Earth), 7 April (Health) and 31 May (No Tobacco).
- Learn the four defence days together: Army (15 January), Air Force (8 October), Navy (4 December) and Armed Forces Flag Day (7 December).
- Group the days of children and teachers: 14 November (Children's Day) and 5 September (Teachers' Day).
Quick Tips
- Revise one month in one sitting and write the dates from memory.
- Do not mix the date of a national day with the date of the international day on the same subject.
