  • Aadhaar and mobile number: A valid Aadhaar number and an active mobile number are needed for OTR and e-KYC.
  • Bank account: An Aadhaar-linked bank account in the student's own name.

The income limit and other conditions can be different for each stage and category. Please read the guidelines for your class on the portal.

Scholarship Amount

The amount depends on the class or course group, the category of the student, and whether the student is a day scholar or a hosteller. As per published reports, the approximate range is:

  • Pre-Matric (Class 9 and 10): about ₹3,000 to ₹7,000 per year (for example, General ₹3,000, and SC ₹3,500 for day scholars and ₹7,000 for hostellers).
  • Post-Matric Intermediate (Class 11 and 12): about ₹7,000 to ₹13,500 per year.
  • Dashmottar: The amount depends on the course group. Along with the scholarship, the fee reimbursement is given for eligible students.

A common mistake is to upload an expired income or caste certificate. Make sure your certificates are valid before you start the form.

How to Apply for UP Scholarship 2026-27

  1. Go to the official portal scholarship.up.gov.in.
  2. Complete the One Time Registration (OTR) with your mobile number and Aadhaar e-KYC. If you already did OTR in 2025-26, you do not need to do it again.
  3. Log in and choose the correct scholarship: Pre-Matric, Post-Matric Intermediate or Dashmottar. Fresh and renewal students use different links.
  4. Fill in your personal, educational, bank and income details.
  5. Upload the documents in the required size and format.
  6. Do the final submission and take a printout of the form.
  7. Submit the printout with the documents to your school or college for verification, as per the schedule on the portal.
  8. Track your application status on the portal by logging in.

Important Points to Remember

  • Fresh and renewal are separate. If you got the scholarship last year, apply through the renewal link.
  • The institute has to verify your form. Even after you submit online, your school or college must verify it. Follow up with them.
  • Bank account must be in your name. The amount goes directly to the Aadhaar-linked account.
  • Do not wait for the last day. The portal gets slow and many students miss the date.
  • Fill correct details. A wrong name, Aadhaar or bank detail can lead to rejection.

Note: This article is based on published reports on the UP Scholarship schedule as on 20 September 2026. Dates and amounts can change, so please confirm on scholarship.up.gov.in before you apply.
